Om Parvat
Om Parvat is a majestic mountain in the Himalayan range located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. Om Parvat is known for its unique rock formation that resembles the sacred Hindu symbol ‘Om’ (ॐ) when viewed. The Shiva Puran describes that OM originated before the universe’s formation. In Pauranic texts and folklore, it is said that there are eight hidden natural OM symbols in the world, with one being visible in the form of OM Parvat from Nabidhang.
The mountain is considered holy by both Hindus and Buddhists and is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. It is regarded as the most distinctive depiction, and it is generated naturally rather than artificially. It contains a creative spirit, which is one of the main factors contributing to the pilgrimage center’s rising popularity among the devotees scattered across the globe.
Om Parvat is also a part of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, a pilgrimage that includes visiting Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet. These are considered the most sacred sites in Hinduism, as they are associated with various legends and myths associated with Shiva and other deities. Pilgrimage is said to be a journey of purification and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Om Parvat can be seen from Nabhidhang Camp on the route of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in India which is locatedat an elevation of 5900 m.
