Climate, Season and Temperature
The entire district can be grouped into the following climatic zones :

Seasons
The entire district exhibits four broad seasons in the year
1. Winter or Cold weather (mid Dec. - mid March)
2. Summer or hot weather (mid March - mid June)
3. Season of general rains (South - West monsoon season)
4. Season of retreating monsoon (mid September to mid November)
Temperature : During the coldest month of
January, tropical ridges and high location along the lesser Himalaya record an average
monthly temperature
between 5.5°C and 8°C. By the March the temperature begins to rise progressively till
early June which is the hottest month every where. Dharchula and
Jhulaghat record an average temperature between 30 - 45°C.
